PNW Rave Blog is a small independent events site for Portland and Seattle. This page says plainly what we collect, why, and how to get rid of it. There is no third-party analytics, no advertising network, and no data broker in this list.

What we collect

  • Your account — email address, display name, and a one-way hash of your password. We never store your password itself.
  • What you choose to save — your home city, the artists and genres you follow, your RSVPs, your friends, and any comments you post.
  • Email settings — whether you want artist alerts and the weekly digest, plus a record of which emails we sent you so we don't send the same one twice.
  • Server logs — ordinary web-server request logs, kept short-term for debugging and abuse handling.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
  • We don't run third-party advertising or tracking pixels.
  • We only email you what you asked for, and every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link that works without logging in.

Location

If you use the distance filter, your browser asks your permission and then works out how far away each event is on your device. Your coordinates are never sent to our server and we never store them. Decline, and the site falls back to your home city.

Cookies and local storage

We set no advertising or tracking cookies — there are none to consent to. When you sign in, your session token is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in, and a dismissed banner is remembered in session storage. Signing out clears the token. Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site, may set its own cookies purely to route traffic and block attacks.

Email verification

We ask you to confirm your address before we send you anything and before you can post comments. That protects people whose address someone else typed by mistake, and it keeps throwaway spam accounts out of the conversations.

Ticket links

Some links to buy tickets are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never affects which events we list or what we say about them, and a disclosure appears on the site whenever such a link is live. We count clicks on outbound ticket links in aggregate so we can tell promoters how much traffic we sent them; those counts are not tied to your account.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from the Account card on your profile. It asks for your password and it cannot be undone.

Deleted immediately and permanently:

  • your email address and display name;
  • your password;
  • your home city;
  • everyone you follow, all your RSVPs, and all your friendships;
  • the likes you gave and any comment reports you filed;
  • your email settings and the log of emails we sent you;
  • your calendar feed link — every calendar subscribed to it stops updating.

Kept, with your name removed:

  • Comments you posted. They stay on the page, attributed to [deleted], and are no longer connected to you. We do this because deleting them would tear holes in conversations other people are part of — replies would lose the message they were answering.
  • Blog posts you wrote, if any — kept for the same reason and under the same [deleted] attribution.

If you would rather your comment text was removed too, delete the individual comments first — you can do that from any comment you wrote — and then delete your account.
