West Burnside / Pearl District edge · Portland, OR · 1332 W Burnside St, Portland, OR 97209
A restored 1914 dance palace on West Burnside, famous for its ball-bearing-mounted 'floating' spring dance floor — the last mechanical floating floor still operating in the US. Under McMenamins since 1997, it hosts everything from downtempo and melodic house/techno nights to turntablism showcases and indie-electronic touring acts across its 1500-capacity main ballroom and the smaller 350-cap Lola's Room downstairs.

What ravers say
Reviewers consistently rave about the springy, ball-bearing-mounted dance floor as a one-of-a-kind experience, and many call the historic room architecturally stunning. The recurring complaints are muddy acoustics, a low stage that hurts sightlines for a standing crowd, and poor airflow that makes the room get 'beastly hot' during packed shows.
